James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist said, “Higher snow totals are expected to be south of U.S. 80 (Demopolis to Selma to Montgomery to Opelika. 2-3 inches are possible there. Some accumulation is possible at Mobile and Pensacola, although some sleet will be in the mix there as well.”
However, we strongly encourage the counties that border the winter storm watch to pay attention to future updates. Any shifting of the track could change the counties in the watch area.
“While it looks like most of the accumulating snow Tuesday will be south of I-20, we still can’t rule out some light accumulation as north as Tuscaloosa, Birmingham, and Anniston,” said Spann. However, for these cities, “it is possible there will be no snow at all, or some light accumulation that could very well impact travel.”
The weather forecast will become more accurate as the winter storm approaches, providing clearer details.
